Where I Am Coming From
My commitment to economic equity is forged directly from my own lived experience. I come from a social housing background with zero inherited wealth, minimal structural support, and have faced the immense personal and systemic mountains one must climb simply to achieve well-being in the modern world. Everything I possess, and every piece of knowledge I hold, I have fought for, worked for, and built for myself.
Because I have directly experienced the financial barriers that systematically lock people from backgrounds of poverty or wealth inaccessibility out of heritage, healing, and cultural spaces, I hold uncompromising values around how this work must be shared. True reciprocity cannot exist without active economic consciousness.
At the same time, I hold a necessary and grounded realism. To secure my own basic needs—including basic housing security, which I do not currently possess—and to continue offering this work sustainably, I cannot work for free. I have no safety net, no generational inheritance, and no external financial rescue. The journey of pulling myself out of the ashes time and time again to accumulate the ancestral lineage knowledge, credentials, and traditional skills that I share is a testament to resilience. It represents an immense lifetime value, and it deserves fair, professional compensation.
Therefore, Slí na Sinsear walks a deliberate and courageous polarity: honoring and charging what this profound work is worth to sustain my livelihood and respect the lineage, while simultaneously structuring our offerings so that access is never exclusive to the wealthy. Walking this road requires intentionality, balance, and the conscious cooperation of our entire community—but it is a path I am entirely committed to leading.

This work is a lifelong practice of learning, adapting, and refining. Over the years, I have come to understand that accessibility is multifaceted: true suitability is not achieved by simply giving work away or making everything free. The deep labor, resource preparation, and ancestral lineages embedded in these spaces must be respected and fairly compensated.
Not every offering will be the right fit for every individual at every moment—whether due to geographic distance, specific curriculum focus, or financial capacity. By separating our work into distinct pathways, we can ensure the sustainable survival of the business while systematically opening doors for community access:
Online Courses (Global Digital Accessibility): Structured, self-paced digital curriculum models designed to remove geographic and travel barriers. These courses provide a flexible, highly affordable mechanism for the global community and diaspora to study ancestral Gaelic lifeways, folklore, and plant medicine from anywhere in the world.
In-Person Events, Retreats & Gatherings (Deep Lineage Immersion): Immersive, high-contact experiential spaces—including turas naofa, fire ceremonies, and community gatherings. These are premium, resource-intensive offerings that reflect standard professional practitioner rates, directly sustaining the operational overheads of the enterprise and honoring the physical materials used.
Trainings In Person & Online (Capacity Building): Specialized, deep-dive training modules for those looking to build their own professional or personal capacity in traditional crafts, Irish culture, spirituality, and land stewardship.
Funded Events In Person (Absolute Social Equity): Grassroots community initiatives—such as The Killinarden Community Project—funded entirely through public state grants. These programs are delivered 100% free of charge to the target community, completely dismantling socioeconomic and financial barriers for local youth, marginalized groups, and families who need it most.
By participating in our premium courses and retreats, our private clients directly help subsidize the development of our publicly funded, grass-roots community work. This creates a beautifully balanced system of mutual aid where everyone contributes according to their capacity.

We structurally design our systems so that those with greater financial access pay sustainable, premium rates, which directly subsidizes concessions, low-cost options, and sliding scales for those with restricted income. Our financial architecture is permanently balanced across four distinct tiers: Premium/Abundance Tier, Baseline Sustainability Tier, Sliding Scale/Concession Tier, and Fully Funded (Free) Access.
When pricing our initiatives, our methodology always holds two non-negotiable objectives: ensuring that all external practitioners, traditional artists, and guest facilitators are compensated fairly and well for their specialized labor, and ensuring that wealth is redistributed equitably to foster collective care.
Geographic Equity: Grassroots Funding in Killinarden
The cultural and educational programs delivered directly within my home community at the Killinarden Community Centre in Tallaght are fully funded through public grants and corporate sponsorships, making them 100% free to access. This is a core priority of my practice. This work is urgently required here more than anywhere, in an urban landscape where local families and youth experience severe systemic disadvantages and generally do not possess the excess disposable income to afford specialized heritage education.
As a single practitioner, I hold a grounded, realistic boundary: I am only one person and cannot commit to resolving every systemic crisis or saving everyone in need. However, my strategic commitment is to anchor this work precisely where it is needed most—without a single financial barrier.

Throughout my digital and in-person offerings, I have consistently honored financial exceptions, extended discounts, and supported individuals in accessing spaces through non-monetary, reciprocal exchanges. This is an active commitment I will continue to uphold to the absolute best of my ability, safely balanced against my own energetic capacity, personal livelihood needs, and operational overheads.
Furthermore, a fixed percentage of our commercial revenue is regularly re-invested into direct mutual aid—whether supporting peer-led community initiatives, grassroots land-restoration projects, or providing immediate financial scaffolding to individuals navigating crises. We believe in the practical application of mutual aid, systemic care, and human solidarity in a global landscape where hyper-capitalism has frequently hijacked our collective humanity.
